Our journey:
from summer bar to leading payment partner
From a concrete need for a reliable, affordable, and simple payment system for the popup summer bar Zanzibar, one of the first versions of EventPay was tested in 2018.
This summer bar in Merchtem, which welcomes thousands of visitors each year, became our perfect testing environment.
To this day, Zanzibar still serves as our “playground” for new features, where we continue to refine our systems through A/B testing and direct user feedback.
The COVID period unexpectedly gave us a valuable pause.
Time to reflect, refine, and innovate. In 2020, we took the decisive step and officially founded EventPay BV. With our background in the event industry, we knew exactly what organizers needed.
Our mission was clear: “make sure it works” — because from our own experience, we knew that even five minutes without a functioning POS system can be catastrophic.
2022 marked our breakthrough, when years of preparation translated into tangible results.
In 2023, we were among the first in the sector to develop an open-loop system with refund terminals, allowing us to transfer money directly back to visitors’ accounts.
Pioneers such as Mardi Gras and Polé Polé were the first to use this innovation and remain loyal partners to this day.
Where we stand today
With impressive names such as Campo Solar, Rijversfestival, Jumping Mechelen, Dance-D-Vision, Nerdland, Theater aan’t Water, and all thirteen squares of the Ghent Festivities in our portfolio, we have established ourselves as a reliable player in the market.
As a crowning achievement, we were named “Promising SME of the Year” for Flemish Brabant and Brussels by Unizo.
With around 250 events in 2024, we look back with pride and ahead with ambition.

That’s the glue that brings our team together! The EventPay team consists of a unique mix of seasoned event professionals and technical experts.
This combination provides a rare level of insight: we not only understand how payment technology works, but also know exactly how a festival or event operates behind the scenes.
What sets our team apart is our hands-on mentality. Many of our team members have spent years on the front line of events — behind bars, in production, or as organizers.
We have experienced firsthand what happens when a payment system fails during a busy festival, which is exactly why we build solutions that prevent this.
In the event industry, there is no such thing as “9 to 5” — and neither do we. Our support team is always ready, whether you call at 14:00 on a Tuesday afternoon or at 02:00 during your Saturday club night.
We understand that issues need to be resolved immediately, because every moment without a functioning payment system costs you revenue and goodwill with your visitors.
What started as a small group of enthusiasts has grown into a diverse team of developers, support staff, implementation specialists, and account managers.
